A paradiddle is a technique used by drummers in playing the snare drum. The drummer would play an alternating pattern with each hand. Begin with the following pattern;
(right, left, right, right) and (left right, left, left) Right= hit drum with stick in right hand and Left, hit drum with stick in left hand. Of course we are not hitting anything with a drum stick we just using our fingers to do
it.The exercises below show you examples of developing the parriddile technique. I begin by using the simple one note in each hand and eventually moving some of the notes around. The blue dot indicates use the right hand. These
exercises are played on the bass side. You can play them on either or both sides if you like. |
