I hold the Stick at a fairly vertical angle, about 10 degrees off center. I have tried several angles, from almost horizontal to vertical. I found that
when I use the thumb I need the extreme vertical angle. When I do not use the thumb I do not need to be as vertical. A discovery that I found important is that it seems to be better if your angle and position actually changes. This
may contradict traditional thinking about guitar position. I discovered it to be better to change my hand position from time to time. I think that hand problems such as carpal tunnel are caused by receptive and same position hand
and finger repetition. The belt hook is great for standing and playing. Some people will raise the Stick by putting an extension on the belt hook. Another suggestion is the belt. I use a piece of 4" Velcro around my waist when
standing. Some people have suggested a weight belt for more support. Lastly I sit most of the time so I came up with the idea of using a small board or stick across the lap to facilitate a sitting position. I mounted a stick on
the back of the Stick to rest on my legs. I find it very comfortable. You could make a stick that would fit on the belt hook. |
